Mango Tree for Haiti
The Angels of Light Program was instituted almost immediately after the earthquake occurred on January 12, 2010 to provide stability, structure and positive activities for the children of Haiti.
In Port Au Prince alone, more than three thousand schools were destroyed by the earthquake. Greater than 1/3rd of the population has been displaced and remains without adequate shelter or food. The Angels of Light Program not only serves as a respite from atrocities often experienced in Haiti on a day to day basis, but also finds permanent, safe housing for displaced children. More than 1200 children are served meals daily through this program and without it, many would starve. Big brothers and big sisters, still reeling themselves from losses suffered in the rubble of January 12, act as mentors and coordinators for the smaller children. The Angels of Light program provides refuge for children in a place where security and safety often remain, sadly, elusive. Learn more about how these Angels of Light inspired this song. Click here.
